A basement fire that may have involved an e-bike charging device displaced a family and several pets Wednesday night in Chevy Chase.
According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer, crews responded around 10:15 p.m. on June 24 to the 6300 block of Wisconsin Avenue near DeRussey Parkway for a reported house fire. Firefighters found a fire in the basement of a two-story single-family home. The initial report indicated a stovetop fire, but the incident may have involved e-bike charging equipment.
Two adults, three children, two dogs, two cats and two guinea pigs were displaced. No injuries were immediately reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
