A new destination for authentic Ethiopian cuisine is coming to Frederick. Yenya Bet Migeb, located at 911 North East Street, will celebrate its soft opening on Saturday, July 11 at 4pm, taking over the space that was formerly home to Jerk N Jive Caribbean Kitchen.
The restaurant’s name, Yenya Bet Migeb (የኛ ቤት ምግብ), translates to “Meal from our humble home,” reflecting its mission to share traditional Ethiopian recipes, family hospitality, and authentic flavors passed down through generations.
In announcing the opening, the owners described the restaurant as “a taste of tradition, love, and family,” adding that guests can expect live cooking and an experience designed to feel like a homemade meal. Yenya Bet Migeb also draws inspiration from both Ethiopian and Zimbabwean heritage, describing itself as “a vibrant culinary sanctuary” where every meal is meant to bring people together.
The restaurant is moving into the former home of Jerk N Jive Caribbean Kitchen, which closed in November 2024 after serving the Frederick community for seven years. At the time, the owners announced they had sold the East Street restaurant to another family as they moved on to new opportunities.
