A jump start attempt led to a fire involving five vehicles, an enclosed trailer and nearby brush in Potomac on Friday afternoon, according to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) Pete Piringer.
At approximately 3 p.m. on July 3, MCFRS crews responded to Lake Potomac Drive for a reported vehicle fire. Engine 730 arrived to find five vehicles, an enclosed trailer and surrounding brush on fire.
According to officials, the owner had been using a portable jump starter on a vehicle battery when smoke was observed, and the fire quickly spread to nearby vehicles and vegetation. No injuries were reported. Damage is estimated at approximately $20,000.
