Nike Store Closes Permanently

Nike has permanently closed its Bethesda retail store after a little more than three years in business.

A sign posted on the door at the store, located at 7117 Arlington Rd., reads, “Thank you for visiting. This store has closed.” A representative at Nike’s Silver Spring Nike Unite location also confirmed the closure to The MoCoShow, saying the Bethesda store closed “a couple days ago.”

Nike By Bethesda opened on May 25, 2023, in the former Amazon Books space, just days after Nike shuttered its Georgetown location. The 6,063 SF store was one of Nike’s standard retail locations, offering new footwear and apparel shipped directly from its warehouses at regular retail prices.

The Bethesda location differed from Nike Factory stores, which primarily sell outlet merchandise, including products made specifically for factory outlets and discounted out-of-season items. Nike continues to operate two other locations in Montgomery County, the Nike Unite store in downtown Silver Spring and the Nike Factory Store at the Clarksburg Premium Outlets. A reason for the Bethesda store’s closure has not been announced.
