Coach Isaiah Rainey-Nix, known as Coach Zay, and his fiancée, Sabrina, will host their first Back-to-School Giveaway on Saturday, August 1, from 12pm to 3pm at Strawberry Knoll Elementary School, located at 18820 Strawberry Knoll Rd. in Gaithersburg.
The free community event is designed to help local students prepare for the upcoming school year by providing backpacks and school supplies while also bringing families together for an afternoon of fun. In addition to the giveaway, attendees can enjoy games, food, raffles, and other activities.
Rainey-Nix is entering his third year of coaching football in Montgomery County. This fall, he will serve as offensive coordinator at Albert Einstein High School after previously coaching at Walt Whitman High School and Rockville High School. Throughout his time coaching, he has built lasting relationships with many of his former players and continues to train and mentor them. He and his fiancée, Sabrina, have worked together to organize the giveaway, which they hope will become an annual event serving local students and families.
According to Rainey-Nix, giving back to the community that helped shape him has long been a personal goal. He said his experiences as both a former football player and coach have shown him the importance of providing young people and their families with support, encouragement, and a strong sense of community. Through the giveaway, he hopes to help local students start the school year with the supplies they need while creating an event that brings neighbors together.
