The Taco Bell at 1100 Rockville Pike in Rockville will temporarily close beginning Monday, July 28, for a complete teardown and rebuild of the restaurant.
Construction is expected to take at least four months, though the reopening could take longer.
Signage on the front doors encourages guests to visit the chain’s Gaithersburg, Germantown and Aspen Hill locations during the closure, and says many of the same employees will be working at those restaurants until the remodel is complete.
The planned closure is part of a previously scheduled redevelopment project and is unrelated to the recent cyclospora outbreak linked to lettuce served at some Taco Bell restaurants. According to CNN, customer visits to Taco Bell locations nationwide declined sharply after federal health officials identified the chain as part of the multistate outbreak investigation.
