Several Gaithersburg neighborhoods will join communities across the country on Tuesday, August 4, for National Night Out, an annual campaign focused on strengthening relationships between residents, law enforcement, and community organizations while promoting crime prevention and neighborhood engagement.
The nationwide event is designed to increase awareness of crime and drug prevention efforts, encourage community involvement, and demonstrate that neighborhoods are united in creating safer communities.
The following Gaithersburg neighborhoods and organizations will host National Night Out events:
- Bennington: 6:30pm to 8:30pm on the Parcel K grassy area bordered by Longdraft Road, Wade Court, Oak Shade, and East Darby Court.
- Casey Community Center: 6pm to 8pm at 810 S. Frederick Ave.
- Kentlands/Lakelands: 6pm to 8:30pm at the Clubhouse, 485 Tschiffely Square Rd.
- Montgomery Meadows: 5pm to 8pm at Travis Park, 220 Travis Ave.
- Primrose School of Gaithersburg: 5pm to 7pm at 902 Wind River Ln.
- Saybrooke: 6pm to 8pm at the community pool on Saybrooke Oaks Boulevard.
The Casey Community Center event will feature officers from the Gaithersburg Police Department and other public safety agencies, along with an expanded community resource fair aimed at connecting residents with valuable services.
Attendees can take advantage of food distribution, health screenings, and information on financial wellness, including budgeting, banking, and credit support. A dedicated Housing Hub will provide resources on rental assistance and homeownership programs, while the Work Force Mobile Unit will offer employment assistance. Residents are encouraged to bring their professional resumes. The event will also include sensory-friendly activities and information about City programs from the Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture.
Entertainment throughout the evening will include live music, line dancing, multicultural performances, crafts, games, duck races, and free ice cream and coffee for attendees.
