A 28-year-old Silver Spring man has died following a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in the White Oak area, according to Montgomery County Police.
At approximately 4:39am on Saturday, July 25, 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the 11800 block of New Hampshire Avenue for the report of a single-vehicle collision.
The preliminary investigation determined that John William Stacey, 28, of Silver Spring, was driving a gray 2010 Mercedes northbound on New Hampshire Avenue when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle struck a median curb near Tracey Drive before leaving the roadway and crashing into a tree.
Stacey was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was later pronounced dead. The Montgomery County Department of Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the crash. Police said the investigation may take several weeks to months to complete.
