Wushiland Boba is preparing to open its first Maryland location at 12266E Rockville Pike in Federal Plaza. A first-look video preview can be seen below.
The Taiwanese tea chain has announced that its soft opening will begin Wednesday, July 29, in the space formerly occupied by Tiger Sugar. During the soft opening, which runs through July 31, all drinks will be 12% off from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Beginning August 1, customers will also receive a $1 off voucher for their next visit through the end of the soft opening promotion.
Founded in 1994 in Tainan, Taiwan, Wushiland built its reputation on hand-shaken teas made with authentic ingredients. The company expanded to North America in 2016 with its first U.S. location in San Diego and has since grown across Southern California, specializing in freshly prepared Taiwanese-style teas and boba drinks.
In Taiwan, the chain operates under the iconic name 50嵐 (Wu-Shih-Lan) and is one of the country’s most recognizable bubble tea brands. One of Wushiland’s signature features is allowing customers to choose between standard boba (large, chewy tapioca pearls) and mini boba (tiny tapioca pearls). Mixing both in the same drink, often called “big & small pearls,” is a fan favorite thanks to the contrasting textures.
The company also emphasizes traditional tea brewing methods, carefully controlling water temperature and steeping times to bring out the best flavor in its teas. Popular offerings include Four Seasons Oolong, Assam Black Tea, and Jasmine Green Tea.
