Montgomery County police have arrested two men in connection with a series of thefts from unlocked vehicles in Bethesda that led detectives to a motel in Gaithersburg, where stolen property and two stolen firearms were recovered.
According to police, officers responded during the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 14, to multiple reports of thefts from vehicles on Broad Brook Drive, Enfield Road, Page Avenue and Locust Hill Road. Victims reported electronics, personal belongings and work-related equipment had been stolen. Surveillance video captured two suspects checking vehicle door handles before entering unlocked vehicles.
Detectives tracked some of the stolen property to a Motel 6 in the 4900 block of Quince Orchard Road in Gaithersburg, where investigators identified the suspects as 30-year-old Craig Pete Pendergrass of Silver Spring and 38-year-old Antonio Dante Gordon of Frederick. After obtaining a search warrant, detectives arrested Pendergrass after he left the motel and found him in possession of stolen property belonging to multiple victims. Gordon was taken into custody during the search of the motel room.
Police said detectives recovered numerous stolen items linked to the Bethesda thefts, along with two firearms that had been reported stolen in a separate Montgomery County case. Gordon and Pendergrass were charged with multiple counts of theft between $1,500 and $25,000, rogue and vagabond, and related offenses. Both are being held without bond.
