Scooter Rider Struck by Opening Car Door

A 26-year-old woman was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries Wednesday morning after a collision involving a parked vehicle’s door and the scooter she was riding in Takoma Park.

According to Takoma Park Police, officers responded at approximately 11:04am on July 29 to the area of Takoma Avenue and Philadelphia Avenue for a reported pedestrian struck.

The preliminary investigation found that the woman was riding a scooter and passing a vehicle that was stopped when the driver opened the vehicle’s door, striking her.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The woman was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
