Agora Restaurant has officially opened its first Maryland location inside the Hyatt Regency Bethesda at One Bethesda Metro Center, bringing its family-owned Mediterranean concept to the heart of downtown Bethesda. A video preview of the restaurant is available below.
The restaurant welcomed its first dinner guests on Saturday, July 18, marking Agora’s third DMV location, joining its existing restaurants in Washington DC and Virginia. The Bethesda location is also the company’s largest to date, with breakfast, brunch, and lunch service expected to launch later this summer.
We were invited to the Grand Opening event, where the food was provided complimentary to those in attendance, giving us an opportunity to get a first look at the new space and sample a variety of dishes from the menu.
Founded by husband-and-wife team Betul and Ismail Uslu, Agora has spent more than 15 years serving Mediterranean cuisine inspired by the culinary traditions of Türkiye, Greece, and Lebanon. The menu features a wide selection of mezze, grilled meats, fresh seafood, house-made spreads, and traditional desserts, along with vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and celiac-friendly options.
When breakfast launches later this summer, the Bethesda location will become Agora’s first restaurant to serve breakfast seven days a week. Planned offerings include Mediterranean-style fried eggs, Aegean avocado toast, and Sunrise Porridge made with almond milk, pine honey, and orange zest.
The new restaurant also offers private dining rooms for up to 50 guests, semi-private event space for up to 120 people, a 100-seat patio, and the ability to accommodate full restaurant buyouts for up to 300 guests.
Agora Bethesda is located inside the Hyatt Regency Bethesda at One Bethesda Metro Center, just steps from Bethesda Row and the Bethesda Metro station. The caption of the video below provides additional information about the drinks and dishes shown.
