Concetta’s Main Street Bistro, located at 231 S. Main St. in Mount Airy, has permanently closed after serving the community for 18 years.
Concetta’s announced the closure in an emotional message, reflecting on nearly two decades of operating the restaurant and thanking the customers, employees, vendors, friends, and family members who helped make it possible.
“It is with profound sadness that Concetta’s Main Street Bistro has closed permanently,” the owner wrote. “It has become a part of me; my baby!! for 18 years!!” The restaurant first opened in 2008 with a concept centered on affordable, home-style deli fare, offering oversized sandwiches, all-day breakfast, meatballs, chicken parmesan, matzah ball soup, latkes, and other made-from-scratch favorites using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Throughout its 18-year run, Concetta’s overcame multiple challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and a devastating fire that temporarily forced the business to reset before reopening.
In the announcement, the owner expressed gratitude to longtime employees, local suppliers including Wagner’s Meat Locker and Knill’s Farm Market, and the Mount Airy community for its continued support, especially following the fire.
“Mt. Airy: Thank you for allowing us to serve you for all these years,” the owner wrote. “Your generosity after the fire said it all, and allowed me to continue to follow my dream… cooking, pleasing and loving all who took a chance on Concetta’s.”
The message also paid tribute to the owner’s late wife, Ginger, who helped support the restaurant throughout its journey. “This is tough, but maybe one day I can look back and be proud of all we did in 18 years,” the owner wrote. No information has been announced regarding what may become of the restaurant space.
