Drivers in Takoma Park should expect road closures, parking restrictions, and detours on Tuesday, August 4, as the city hosts its National Night Out celebration.
From 4pm to 10pm, the following roads will be closed to traffic:
- Maple Avenue between Philadelphia Avenue and Lee Avenue
- Maple Avenue at Grant Avenue
- Hancock Avenue at Grant Avenue
No parking will also be permitted from 4pm to 10pm on:
- Maple Avenue between Philadelphia Avenue and Lee Avenue
- Lee Avenue between Carroll Avenue and Maple Avenue
The City of Takoma Park says no parking reminders will be posted 48 hours before the event. Residents at 7513 Maple Avenue and 7515 Maple Avenue will be unable to leave or return to their homes during the road closure period.
Lee Avenue will serve as the designated detour route. Drivers attempting to access Maple Avenue from Philadelphia Avenue will be directed to continue to Carroll Avenue, turn left onto Carroll Avenue, and then left onto Lee Avenue to reach Maple Avenue. The same detour will apply for traffic traveling in the opposite direction. Detour signs will be posted throughout the area.
