Arepateca, a popular staple at local farmers markets that most recently operated out of Downtown Brew’s in Rockville, has announced it will close at the end of August.
The Venezuelan arepa business announced that its final day will be August 31, thanking customers, employees, market organizers, vendors and others who supported the business over the years. Arepateca said it introduced Venezuelan cuisine to thousands of customers across the DMV through its restaurant operations and appearances at local markets.
Its menu featured arepas including the Brisket Caribe with smoked brisket and aged cheddar, Crunchy Reina with chicken avocado salad, and Sweet Domino O’ Mine with black beans, Caribbean cheese and sweet plantains.
Before closing, Arepateca plans to make several final farmers market appearances, including the Rockville Farmers Market on Saturday, August 15, and Bethesda Central Farm Market on Sunday, August 16.
“Please stop by one last time before August 31. We’d love the chance to thank you in person, share one more meal, and celebrate everything we’ve built together,” the business wrote in its closure announcement.
