Popular Maryland Brunch Spot Opens Newest Location

Easy Like Sunday, a popular Baltimore-area brunch concept, is now open in downtown Silver Spring.

The restaurant has opened on the ground floor of Central Apartments at 8455 Fenton Street, taking over the space previously occupied by El Sapo, which permanently closed in early 2025.

The menu features several of the concept’s signature dishes, including ricotta-stuffed French toast, short rib hash and a brunch burger topped with maple-syrup-cooked cowboy bacon. Other offerings include the Tuscan Bake, made with pork sausage, tomato and mozzarella, as well as fried chicken served with cornmeal pancakes and peach-habanero jam.

Drinks are also a major part of the concept, with offerings that have included mimosa flights, peach lavender mimosas and specialty non-alcoholic beverages such as a pink beetroot matcha latte. Vegan and vegetarian options include dishes such as roasted vegetable hash and seasonal vegan pancakes.

Although Easy Like Sunday has become closely associated with Baltimore, the restaurant originally debuted in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2020. Founders Sean and Anna MacCuish later relocated the concept to Maryland to be closer to family. Anna is a Baltimore native whose family owns the longtime G&A Restaurant.

The couple sold the Charlotte location before opening Easy Like Sunday at The Village of Cross Keys in Baltimore in 2023. A second Baltimore location followed in Locust Point in 2024, with downtown Silver Spring now joining the growing list of locations.

The restaurant’s name, despite its similarity to the Lionel Richie song “Easy,” was not intended as a direct reference to the song. The owners have said the name instead came from the atmosphere they wanted to create: leisurely, simple and relaxed, like an easy Sunday morning.
