NBC4 reporter and anchor Joseph Olmo announced Sunday night that he is leaving local news after nearly a decade to pursue another dream.
“What a run it’s been,” Olmo wrote on Instagram. “Metro stations. Airport terminals. Beltways & highways. The National Mall & Montgomery Mall… and everything in between!”
Olmo shared that Monday would mark the end of this chapter of his life, describing the decision as bittersweet. “I’m saying goodbye to one dream… in order to fulfill another,” he wrote.
Olmo did not reveal his next career move but said he will remain in the area and suggested that those familiar with him may not be surprised by what comes next. “It’s been the honor of a lifetime to talk with you, for nearly 10 years, about all the things happening in this beautiful region we call home,” he wrote.
An Annapolis native, Olmo joined the News4 team after covering transportation for DC News Now. He began his career as a freelance reporter for several local and Hispanic news outlets before joining WDVM-TV in Hagerstown in 2020.
Olmo is fluent in Spanish, belongs to the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and has also contributed to NBC4 sister station Telemundo 44.
