ZiZa Kabob will officially expand into Montgomery County next month, opening in the first half of September at 1675 Chapman Ave. in Rockville’s Twinbrook Quarter development, co-owner Fahim Rafiq told The MoCoShow. ZiZa Kabob’s name combines the names of the owners’ children, Zidane and Zayn. A first look inside the restaurant is available below.
The new location will mark ZiZa Kabob’s first foray into full-service dining. During lunch, the restaurant will operate similarly to its original fast-casual Jessup location (Howard County), with customers ordering at the counter and food brought to their tables. Guests will be able to leave their dishes at the table for staff to clear. Beginning at 4pm each day, ZiZa Kabob will transition to full service, with wait staff taking orders at the tables through closing.
The restaurant will be 100% halal and offer a family-friendly atmosphere, fresh food and a strong focus on hospitality. According to Rafiq, all of the artwork inside the restaurant was hand-painted and custom-made specifically for the Rockville location.
Rafiq said he had always wanted to open a restaurant in Rockville, an area he and his wife frequently visit. When the opportunity at Twinbrook Quarter became available, he quickly fell in love with the location.
The restaurant opened its first location at 7351 Assateague Dr. in Jessup and is associated with Baltimore’s Maiwand Grill. Its menu features homemade Afghan family recipes, including flame-grilled kabobs, stews and aromatic rice dishes prepared with traditional spices.
ZiZa Kabob signed a lease at Twinbrook Quarter in 2025. The development, anchored by Wegmans, is also home to Terra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse, Bonne Nail Bar, Genki Wagyu House and Molly Tea.
