Two Maryland State Police troopers are being recognized for saving a woman’s life after she experienced a medical emergency at the Largo Motor Vehicle Administration office.
On August 13, Trooper C. Williams and Sergeant S. Barlow were working an overtime assignment at the MVA when the woman became unresponsive. The troopers immediately began performing CPR and applied an automated external defibrillator.
Their response helped restore the woman’s heartbeat before local emergency medical personnel arrived and transported her to a hospital.
“Their actions exemplify the very best of law enforcement and public service,” the MVA branch manager wrote in a letter recognizing the troopers. “Because of their prompt response and willingness to act without hesitation, a life was saved.”
The woman, identified by state police as Ms. Sheryl, recently returned to the MVA while Williams was working and personally thanked him for the role he and Barlow played in saving her life.
Maryland State Police said Sheryl is doing well as she continues her recovery.
