Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) crews responded to a house fire in the 2000 block of Powder Mill Road in Hillandale on Sunday evening, according to an update provided by MCFRS on Monday morning.
Firefighters arrived to find active fire conditions and began attacking the fire with assistance from the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department.
Crews deployed hose lines, searched the home for occupants, ventilated the structure to remove heat and smoke, checked for any extension of the fire and worked to protect surrounding properties. The fire was brought under control following coordinated operations between the two departments.
Firefighters then conducted an extensive overhaul to locate and extinguish any remaining hot spots.
MCFRS reminded residents to ensure their homes have working smoke alarms and their families have a fire safety plan. No information about injuries, displacement or the cause of the fire was provided.
