Iverson Howard, a 2025 graduate of Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg, opened his sophomore season at the University of Maryland with the best performance of his college career.
Howard scored the first two touchdowns of his Maryland career while rushing for 66 yards on 12 carries in the Terrapins’ 62-0 victory over Hampton. He also caught one pass for six yards.
As a true freshman in 2025, Howard appeared in all 12 games and recorded 125 rushing yards on 39 carries. He also caught two passes and led Maryland with seven kickoff returns for 108 yards. His top rushing performance came against Towson, when he carried the ball 15 times for 60 yards.
Howard was a four-star recruit at Quince Orchard and was rated as Maryland’s top running back and the state’s ninth-ranked overall prospect by ESPN. He helped lead the Cougars to state championships in 2021 and 2022 and scored three touchdowns during Quince Orchard’s run to the 2024 Class 4A state championship game.
Howard received more than 20 offers from Power Four programs before choosing Maryland over a group that included Michigan, Florida State, Georgia and Oregon.
