Andy’s Pizza’s pepperoni pizza has earned a spot on The Washington Post’s list of the “40 Essential Dishes of D.C.,” highlighting standout dishes from restaurants across Washington, DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.
Founded by Montgomery County native Andy Brown, Andy’s Pizza operates 14 locations across the DMV, including in Downtown Bethesda, Gaithersburg, and Westfield Montgomery Mall in Montgomery County.
The Washington Post praised the homegrown chain for its consistency, convenience, and New York-style slices, which feature dough fermented for 72 hours. Its pepperoni earned particular attention for curling into crispy-edged cups that collect the topping’s spicy oil.
Andy’s got its start in Tysons Corner in 2018 and has continued expanding throughout the region. The brand is known for its thin, crisp crust with a slight char inspired by classic New York slices.
The recognition follows another major honor for Andy’s Pizza. Earlier this year, the company was named Fast Casual Restaurant of the Year at the 2026 RAMMY Awards, which recognize excellence in the Washington region’s restaurant industry. It also earned Washington City Paper’s Best Pizza award.
