Montgomery Parks is seeking public feedback on a proposed policy that would establish a process for individuals and groups to donate funds for improvements to athletic fields throughout the county.
The public can review the Athletic Field Amenity Donation Draft Policy and provide input through a short survey available September 9 through October 9, 2026. Survey responses will be considered as the policy is updated before it goes before the Montgomery County Planning Board for review.
The proposed policy would create structured opportunities for donors to contribute dedicated funding or convey new parkland. Montgomery Parks’ long-term goal is to increase athletic field capacity through amenities such as field lighting, batting cages, practice walls, dugouts, and year-round turf fields.
“Montgomery Parks is committed to providing high-quality athletic fields throughout the county, even as budget constraints make it challenging to meet growing community demand,” said Miti Figueredo, director of Montgomery Parks. “By creating a clear path for private donations, this policy can help offset funding pressures and advance improvements that expand field capacity without relying solely on public resources.”
According to Montgomery Parks, the proposed policy is intended to help address those needs through private investment, giving donors an opportunity to support future athletic field amenities in Montgomery County.
