Construction on a shared use path project along Quince Orchard Blvd is expected to begin on or about September 16, weather permitting, with work anticipated to continue through February 2028.
According to a City of Gaithersburg construction notice, the Department of Public Works will oversee work on Quince Orchard Blvd, Firstfield Rd and the portion of Rabbitt Rd between the Robertson Youth Center and Quince Orchard Blvd.
The project includes a new shared use path, asphalt milling, resurfacing, striping, lighting and utility relocation, stormwater improvements, new curb and gutter, sidewalk improvements and new plantings.
On-street parking will be restricted at various times during construction. “No Parking” signs will be posted at least 48 hours before construction activity and will specify the dates and times of the restrictions.
Most work will take place Monday through Friday from 7am-5pm, with exceptions related to utility relocation. Drivers should expect minor delays at various times while work is underway.
Access to all roadways will remain open most of the time, although temporary, short-term road closures may be necessary. Contractors will perform the work under the direction of the Department of Public Works.
