Brookside Gardens will host Children’s Day on Saturday, September 19, from 10am–2pm, offering free outdoor activities, live performances and opportunities for families to explore the science and art of gardening.
The event will take place at 1800 Glenallan Ave in Wheaton. Registration is encouraged but not required, and drop-ins are welcome. Families are invited to bring picnics, which are permitted during this special event.
Morning entertainment will feature musical performances by Marsha from Marsha and the Positrons. The Puppet Co. from Glen Echo will present an afternoon puppet show.
Outdoor activity stations will include arts and crafts, garden science and wildlife activities, and an opportunity for children to pot a plant to take home while supplies last. Participants can also learn how to use the iNaturalist app to contribute to community science.
Children can try yoga with a “Yoga Sprouts!” instructor, with mats available to borrow. Community participants will include Politics and Prose and children’s author Joan Waites.
