Crumbl’s Vienna location, the chain’s first in Virginia, has closed after six years, according to a message shared with customers.
“Crumbl Vienna, Virginia’s first, has closed after 6 years. We’d love to see you at Falls Church: 10% off in store thru Saturday,” the message reads. A reason for the closure was not provided. The closure follows the loss of Crumbl’s Germantown location at 20650 Seneca Meadows Pkwy, which permanently closed on May 2. That location opened in 2022 under franchisees Rob Davis and Mark Sumsion.
In December, The Seattle Times published an article titled “How the cookie crumbles: The rise and fall of Crumbl Cookies,” describing how the chain’s weekly flavor reveals became a social media ritual that encouraged repeat visits. The article reported that, following years of rapid expansion, growth had slowed, some stores had closed, and profits had become uneven as Crumbl faced the challenge of maintaining customer interest beyond its initial novelty.
Crumbl opened its first Montgomery County location at Federal Plaza in Rockville in 2020, and also has a location in Gaithersburg’s Kentlands. The chain is known for its oversized cookies, signature pink boxes, and rotating weekly menu.
