RisuCon, Montgomery County’s comic con, will return to the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Gaithersburg on Saturday, September 26.
The family-friendly anime, gaming and cosplay convention will run from 11am to 7pm and feature more than 125 artists and vendors, along with a Cosplay Barn, cosplay guests and a cosplay contest.
Additional attractions include an activity room, photography garden, photography room with onsite photo printing, panels and workshops, and all-day anime screenings. A $5 photo studio will also be available for attendees in cosplay.
Game Kastle will host a gaming room featuring more than 100 games, demonstrations and tournaments. Superhero Support Causeplayers, Mandalorian groups and Darkon Wargaming LARP Club are also scheduled to participate.
The event will take place at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, located at 16 Chestnut Street in Gaithersburg. Attendees should enter the fairgrounds at 33 Dalamar Street. Free parking will be available.
According to organizers, the name “RisuCon” comes from the Japanese word “risu,” meaning squirrel, a nod to both the event’s Japanese pop-culture influences and Maryland’s abundance of squirrels.
