Line Down The Block For Grand Opening of D.C., Maryland, and Virginia’s First Orange Pocket

Orange Pocket, a Japanese and Korean-inspired pop culture and lifestyle retailer, is now open at Rio in Gaithersburg, drawing a line of customers down the block for the grand opening of its first store in the DMV (D.C., Maryland, and Virginia) on Saturday.

The new store officially opened September 19 at 30 Grand Corner Ave, taking over the former Pier 1 Imports and seasonal Spirit Halloween space. Orange Pocket features a wide variety of merchandise and interactive attractions, including gashapon capsule toy machines, claw machines, blind boxes, Japanese snacks and drinks, beauty and skincare products, toys, collectibles, pet products, stationery and home goods.

Ahead of the opening, our own “Mr. MoCo” Alex Tsironis and his four kids, ages 8, 7, 4.5 and almost 3, got a sneak peek inside the store. The kids explored Orange Pocket and ranked their 10 favorite finds, which can be seen in our preview video below. According to Google, Orange Pocket is open from 11am-9:30pm Sunday through Thursday and 11am-10pm Friday and Saturday.
