Popular local sushi brand Kusshi Sushi is continuing its expansion across the region, with two additional Maryland restaurants now in the works.
Kusshi has signed on to open a second Bethesda location at 4611 Sangamore Rd, taking over the storefront that was home to Passion Fin for more than a decade. News of the upcoming Bethesda location was first reported by Robert Dyer. The restaurant will add to Kusshi’s existing Bethesda presence, which includes its location in the former Hanaro space on Woodmont Ave.
Kusshi is also preparing to enter Prince George’s County for the first time, with a new location planned for The Station at Riverdale Park. The restaurant will move into 4501 Woodberry St, the former home of Le Fantome Food Hall, which closed permanently in April 2025. Opening timeframes for the Bethesda and Riverdale Park restaurants have not yet been announced.
Meanwhile, Kusshi’s previously announced Germantown location remains in the works. The company told The MoCoShow that the location is still part of its plans, though there are no new updates to share at this time.
As we previously reported, Kusshi signed on last year to take over the former Zane Japanese Eatery space next to Beers and Cheers in Germantown. The storefront had previously been home to Indian Bistro and EN Asian Bistro and Sushi. When it opens, the restaurant will become Kusshi’s first upcounty Montgomery County location.
Kusshi made its debut at Pike & Rose in North Bethesda in 2018 and developed a following for its sushi, specialty rolls and modern, casual atmosphere. The brand has since expanded throughout the DMV, including locations in Bethesda, Rockville Town Square and Downtown Silver Spring.
The company has continued growing beyond Montgomery County as well, including its expansion into Northern Virginia. Opening dates for all three upcoming Maryland locations have not yet been announced.
