A retired Washington, D.C. man won $100,000 after his son purchased two identical Maryland Lottery Pick 5 tickets using his father’s favorite numbers.
According to MD Lottery, the son was running errands when he offered to pick up Lottery tickets for his father. Knowing his preferred combination, 15670, he purchased two matching tickets using the same numbers. Later that night, his father checked the evening drawing results and discovered both tickets had won $50,000 top prizes, giving him a combined $100,000 win.
“I was amazed. I’ve won before, but never like this, never a top prize… and now I had two of them,” the retired Transit Authority employee said.
The winning tickets were purchased at the 7-Eleven at 9500 Ruby Lockhart Boulevard in Bowie. The retailer will receive a combined $1,000 bonus for selling the two winning tickets.
