Citizenship Maryland will host a free Citizenship Application Screening Clinic from 2-5pm on Saturday, Oct. 3, at the UpCounty Regional Services Center, located at 12900 Middlebrook Rd. in Germantown.
The appointment-only clinic is intended for Montgomery County residents with lawful permanent resident status who may be eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship. Participants will meet one-on-one with legal providers to review their eligibility, explore potential fee-assistance options and determine whether they may qualify for an exemption from the English-language requirement.
To participate, residents must be at least 18 years old, live in Montgomery County and have held a Green Card for at least five years, or for at least three years if married to a U.S. citizen.
The clinic will not provide assistance completing the N-400 Application for Naturalization during the Oct. 3 event. Residents who are determined to be eligible and are recommended to apply will instead be referred to an upcoming partner application-assistance clinic and provided with additional support resources.
The event is being held in partnership with the Governor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, Maryland Delegate Leslie Lopez and Global Refuge. Language assistance is available. Residents who need help accessing the application form can call 240-777-4940. Registrations can be found here.
