Just days after Starbucks permanently closed its Pike & Rose location, the coffeehouse’s exterior signage has already been removed and the windows have been papered over.
The Starbucks at 11802 Grand Park Ave closed permanently over the weekend as part of the company’s plans to shutter approximately 250 underperforming locations across North America. The store’s prominent exterior signage has since been taken down, leaving the space without Starbucks branding.
Despite the quick removal of the signage, there is no indication yet that a replacement tenant has been secured for the space. Starbucks remains listed as a tenant in current Pike & Rose leasing materials.
The closure followed a somewhat confusing final few days for the location. Readers initially contacted The MoCoShow last Thursday to report that the store would be closing permanently, but signage posted at the coffeehouse that day described it as only “temporarily closed” and stated that Starbucks was working to reopen as soon as possible.
By Friday morning, that notice had been replaced by one confirming the permanent closure. Starbucks thanked customers for their support and directed them to its nearby location at 17 Paseo Dr in North Bethesda.
The closure came almost exactly one year after Starbucks mistakenly informed customers that the same Pike & Rose location was shutting down. In September 2025, customers received an email stating that the Grand Park Ave store would permanently close on September 27. Employees told The MoCoShow at the time that the email had been sent in error, and the store ultimately remained open for another year.
The Pike & Rose closure was one of multiple Starbucks closures in the region. The White Oak Town Center location at 12255 Prosperity Dr in Silver Spring also closed, less than two years after opening.
