Maryland Man Sentenced to 25 Years in Federal Prison for Sexually Exploiting Children

A Mount Airy man has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for sexually exploiting a child and possessing child sexual abuse material, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland.

U.S. District Judge James K. Bredar sentenced 37-year-old Mark Travis Brigham to 25 years in prison followed by lifetime supervised release. Brigham pleaded guilty to the charges in June 2026.

According to court documents, between September 2023 and August 2024, Brigham persuaded, induced, enticed and coerced three girls between the ages of 13 and 14 to engage in sexually explicit conduct and used his cellphone to produce multiple images. Prosecutors said Brigham also placed a hidden camera in a bathroom and secretly recorded adults and minors.

Investigators executed a search warrant at Brigham’s Mount Airy residence on August 6, 2025, where authorities seized several electronic devices along with 35 firearms, ammunition and a magazine. An examination of the electronic devices uncovered child sexual abuse material, according to prosecutors.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and the Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office as part of the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood initiative.
