Railroad maintenance will temporarily close four rail crossings in Gaithersburg and Washington Grove this October, according to information CSX provided to Montgomery County.
The work will involve rail replacement and resurfacing of the northbound tracks. Similar maintenance was completed last year on the southbound tracks.
No vehicles, bicycles, or pedestrians will be permitted to cross the tracks at the affected locations during the closures. Detour routes will be posted, and travelers should expect heavy traffic, allow extra travel time, and use alternate routes when possible.
The following closures are scheduled, weather permitting:
- Railroad Street in Washington Grove: Monday, October 5, through Thursday, October 8.
- Chestnut Street in Gaithersburg: Tuesday, October 6, through Friday, October 9.
- Metropolitan Grove Road in Gaithersburg: Saturday, October 10, through Sunday, October 11.
- South Summit Avenue in Gaithersburg: Monday, October 12, through Thursday, October 15.
