$4.6 Million Construction Permit Issued for Upcoming 49,000 SF Round1 Entertainment Venue

Round1 Bowling & Arcade has received a permit valued at $4.6 million to build its upcoming location at Westfield Wheaton.

The nearly 49,000 SF entertainment venue will transform the former Hollywood East Cafe space and additional space at the mall into one of Montgomery County’s largest indoor entertainment destinations.

According to Westfield Wheaton, Round1 will feature state-of-the-art bowling lanes, arcade games imported directly from Japan, more than 100 crane machines, private karaoke rooms, billiards and additional interactive attractions.

The venue will also offer Japanese food, classic arcade snacks and a full bar for guests 21 and older. Round1 is known for combining bowling, arcade gaming, dining and nightlife in a single entertainment destination.

“Coming Soon” signage has been displayed at Westfield Wheaton since earlier this year. Round1 also appeared before Montgomery County’s Alcohol Beverage Services Board in August as the project continued moving through the development process.

The Wheaton venue will be Round1’s second Maryland location, following the opening of its Towson Town Center location in December 2019. Round1 has previously indicated that the Wheaton location is expected to open during fiscal year 2027, which runs from October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027. An official opening date has not yet been announced.

The value of the permit was first reported by Maryland Newsletters.
