The annual Silver Spring Zombie Walk will return to downtown Silver Spring on Saturday, October 24, bringing costumes, a downtown walk, dancing and horror movies to the area.
The longtime Halloween tradition began in 2008 and has drawn thousands of participants over the years. Costumes are encouraged but not required, and the event is open to anyone who wants to participate or watch.
Festivities begin at 7pm with a zombie gathering at Quarry House Tavern, located at 8401 Georgia Ave. A costume contest will take place at 8pm before participants begin the Zombie Walk to Ellsworth Square at 9pm.
A zombie dance party with a DJ will take place at Ellsworth Square beginning at 9pm. At 10pm, the group will continue to AFI Silver Theatre at 8633 Colesville Rd.
AFI’s evening lineup includes The Evil Dead presented by Count Gore De Vol at 7pm, Train to Busan at 10pm and The Rocky Horror Picture Show with a live shadowcast at 10:30pm.
The Silver Spring Zombie Walk has grown from a small gathering into one of downtown Silver Spring’s longstanding Halloween traditions, bringing residents and visitors together for a night of costumes, entertainment and horror films.
