Two Maryland health systems have landed in the top 30 nationally on Forbes’ 2027 list of “America’s Dream Employers.”
Johns Hopkins Medicine ranked No. 27 out of 500 employers nationwide. Johns Hopkins Medicine, headquartered in Baltimore, combines the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine with the Johns Hopkins Health System and Hospital. The system includes six academic and community hospitals, four suburban health care and surgery centers, more than 40 patient care locations, a home care group and an international division. Johns Hopkins Medicine sees more than 2.8 million patients annually, along with nearly 337,000 emergency room visits.
The University of Maryland Medical System came in at No. 29. The University of Maryland Medical System is a private academic health system that operates 11 hospitals and more than 150 additional locations across 13 Maryland counties. The system, which includes the flagship University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, says its network provides approximately 25% of all hospital care in Maryland. Its facilities also include UM Capital Region Health in Prince George’s County, UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center, UM St. Joseph Medical Center, UM Shore Regional Health and others across the state.
Forbes released its third annual America’s Dream Employers list on October 27. The ranking, developed in partnership with market research firm Statista, includes 500 employers across the country, with more than 100 healthcare organizations making this year’s list.
The rankings were based on surveys of more than 10,000 U.S. college students and more than 142,000 U.S. employees working for companies with at least 1,000 employees nationwide.
Students were asked which companies they considered dream employers, how eager they would be to receive an offer from those organizations, and to evaluate employers on factors including growth opportunities, quality of work, salary and reputation. The ranking is an employer survey conducted by Forbes and Statista and is not a measure of clinical quality or a reader-voted award.
