Celebrate ‘Take a Walk in the Park Day’ in MoCo Parks on March 30th

March 30 is Take a Walk in the Park Day. But, every day is a good day to stroll, walk, or hike in the parks.

Montgomery Parks has put together six activities to help you step into parks.

Go on a guided hike through Wheaton Regional Park with a Brookside Nature Center staff member. The two-to-three-mile trek on Saturday, March 26, 9 am to 11 am, is for adults only.

Tree Art Hike

Turn textures and patterns of the forest into art on Black Hill Nature Programs’ Tree Art Hike  on Saturday, March 26, 3 pm to 4:30 pm, at Black Hill Regional Park. Make bark rubbings, collages, and more during this event. This program provides accommodations to individuals with disabilities and is part of Montgomery Parks’ Nature for All campaign.

Maydale Storytime

Bring the kids for a tale and a nature walk during Maydale Nature Classroom’s Storytime at Maydale on Tuesday, March 29, 10 am to 11 am. Staff will read Good Winter, Hello Spring, then go outdoors for a scavenger hunt to look for signs of spring and make a craft to take home.

Kites Over Clarksburg

Stroll around Ovid Hazen Wells Recreational Park to watch the soaring Kites Over Clarksburg  on Saturday, March 26, 11 am to 2 pm. Montgomery Parks is proud to cosponsor this free event with the Clarksburg Foundation. Bring your own kite or purchase one onsite.

Cherry Trees

Walk through our parks this weekend and enjoy cherry blooms. Some cherry trees are blooming at Brookside Gardens. Locate other cherry trees in our parks with our online tree finder. And, remember about the Cherry Blossom Fun Run and Walk  at South Germantown Recreational Park on Saturday, April 2, 9 am to 11 am.
