Update on this Morning’s Pedestrian Collision in Bethesda, 7-Year-Old Child in Critical Condition

Per MCPD:

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a pedestrian collision that occurred on the morning of Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at the intersection of Grosvenor Lane and King Charles Way in Bethesda.

At approximately 8:22 a.m., 2nd District Officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for the report of a collision involving three pedestrians and a gold 2002 Honda Accord.

The investigation by detectives has determined that an adult male, his 18-month-old toddler in a stroller and his 7-year-old son were waiting for the arrival of a Montgomery County Public Schools bus on the southwest corner of King Charles Way at Grosvenor Lane. The operator of the Honda was traveling westbound on King Charles Way and was about to exit the community onto westbound Grosvenor Lane. For reasons unknown, the operator of the Honda left the roadway and struck the pedestrians. After the collision, the Honda re-entered the roadway, travelled across both lanes and left the roadway.

The adult male driver of the Honda remained at the scene and provided a statement to investigators. He did not sustain any injuries.

The infant was uninjured. The adult male pedestrian sustained minor injuries and his 7-year-old son suffered life threatening injuries. The father and the 7-year-old were transported to an area hospital. The 7-year-old is in critical condition.
