MCPS May 7th Community Engagement Event

MCPS Superintendent Dr. Monifa McKnight sent out a letter to the community inviting students, parents, staff, and community members to discuss school strengths, areas for growth, and priorities. The full message can be seen below:

“Dear MCPS Community:

It was wonderful to see so many students, parents, staff, and community members at our first two community conversations to discuss our schools’ strengths, areas for growth, and priorities. I am now writing to remind you of an additional opportunity to come together.

Details about the event are below:

  • Date: Saturday, May 7, 2022
  • Time: 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM
  • Where: Paint Branch High School cafeteria, 14121 Old Columbia Pike, Burtonsville

RSVP is encouraged (though not required) here.

I am calling these sessions “All Together Now: Putting Our Students First” because our time with one another will be devoted to understanding our shared hopes for our school system. We will discuss what it will take for our schools to become the places you want them to be. And we can only realize our district’s greatest potential when we engage the broader voices of our parents, students, and community members, and we coalesce around what is in the best interest of each and every one of our students.

While I hope you have joined us or will join us at one of these events, please know that these represent just one of a series of upcoming opportunities. I will continue to be in our schools and communities in the coming weeks and months to meet you, hear from you, and learn about how we can best work together on behalf of our students.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Sincerely,

Monifa B. McKnight, Ed.D.
Interim Superintendent of Schools”
