Montgomery Village Center Update

Construction has finally begun on the interior of several businesses that are coming soon to the Montgomery Village Shopping Center, including Kobe Japan, Boo Boo Pho, and The Joint. Below you’ll find a list of all businesses that are scheduled to be opening sometime soon in the center:

Baskin Robins:
Back in January, @themocosource reached out to let us know that Baskin Robbins would be coming to the Montgomery Village Shopping Center and last month we were able to get confirmation from klnb that the ice cream shop will be coming to the vacant space next to Suburban Hair and Linda’s Nails. No opening date has been announced.

Boo Boo Pho:
Opening soon signage is up at BooBoo Pho at 19230 Montgomery Village Ave. While no opening date has been announced, the restaurant is in the early stages of its buildout so it will likely be a couple more months. The restaurant will specialize in Vietnamese cuisine.

Dickey’s BBQ:

In May we reported that Dickey’s Barbecue Pit will be opening a new location in the center, next to the upcoming Kobe Japan (which is next to the Moe’s). Dickey’s Barbecue Pit previously opened a Montgomery County location in Germantown back in February 2013. The restaurant closed the following year and reopened under new management in July 2014 before closing permanently in early 2016. The first Maryland location was in Gambrills, but has since closed. Currently there are nearby locations in Pasadena, MD, two in Fairfax VA, and one in Alexandria VA. There is no expected opening date at the moment.

Fiesta Laundromat:
Fiesta Laundromat, which currently has a location  at 7601 New Hampshire Ave in Takoma Park, will be opening in the center next to Boo Boo Pho and across from the MV Animal Hospital, according to KLNB. Per their website, “At Fiesta Laundromat, we take immense pride in our work, whether we are working with large-scale corporate clients, individual laundry clients or our walk-in customers. Take a look around our website and learn more about the variety of laundry services we offer.”

Hangry Joe’s:
In August we reported that Hangry Joe’s Hot Chicken is coming to the Montgomery Village Shopping Center and will be located in the brand new space next to the recently opened Starbucks. Earlier this year Hangry Joe’s opened locations at 2533 Ennals Ave in Wheaton and 10050 Darnestown Road in the Travilah Square shopping center, and has one opening soon at 718-B Rockville Pike.

Kobe Japan:
Construction is ongoing at the site of Kobe Japan Hibachi And Sushi . The restaurant has additional locations at 1163 University Blvd E in Takoma Park and 13623 Georgia Ave. Suit A in Aspen Hill. According to their website, the menu features, sushi and sashimi, bento boxes and hibachi.

The Joint:
The buildout has started at The Joint, an affordable chiropractic care center, which will be located between Dollar Tree Moe’s Southwest Grill.  Signage on the building advertises a free visit when you text “Gaithersburg” to 56468. The Joint Corp., a Scottsdale, Arizona based operator and franchisor of chiropractic clinics, opened 130 new clinics across the country in 2021 to bring its national count up to 706. It was originally founded in 1999 by a Doctor of Chiropractic with “a vision to transform the traditional, often misunderstood concept of routine chiropractic care by making it more convenient, friendly and affordable.” In March 2010, The Joint was re-founded with the acquisition of the original eight franchised clinics.

SafeSplash Swim School
SafeSplash will be located on the new Centerway Rd extension, behind Suburban air and Linda’s Nails. This will be SafeSplash Swim School’s second Montgomery County location after opening the area’s first SafeSplash facility, located within LA Fitness on Rockville Pike in Rockville.

SafeSplash typically offers learn-to-swim lessons to children as young as six months of age. No prior swimming experience is needed. Adult and adaptive lessons are typically offered as well. Various class levels are offered to suit different swimming abilities. Per SafeSplash, “Students are taught in small classes (no larger than 4 students to 1 instructor), by experienced and passionate instructors. SafeSplash uses a proven, proprietary instruction method that has been tested and refined over the company’s history, across 10 years and over 4 million swim lessons.”
