About: Lone Oak co-founders Chris and Charlie Miller are graduates of Magruder High School. They teamed up with co-owners and builders Ralph and Ryan Mollet of Gaithersburg to bring you the brewery and great times for almost 2.5 years now. The 29-acre farm brewery opened in June of 2020 and is one of the only breweries in state to grow its own barley – and also malt the barley on-site. Lone Oak boasts dozens of beers on tap at any time, offers brewhouse tours and tastings, private event spaces, and now has its products in more than 100 locations across Maryland. The majestic pre-Civil War Lone Oak tree sits at the edge of the property, which was formerly owned by Samuel Riggs IV of the Riggs and Sandy Spring Bank family. Before his passing, Riggs donated to the University of Maryland for the school’s alumni center, which bears his name; as well as to Montgomery General Hospital in Olney, where the critical-care unit is named in his honor.
The MoCo Lite can label was designed by MoCo native and Good Counsel graduate Matt Corrado, a friend of the Mollets and Millers, and Creative Director at Bright Light Media in Kensington. The MoCoShow was founded by MoCo native and Watkins Mill High School graduate, Alex Tsironis. Lone Oak Farm Brewmaster Kevin Hilton has been crafting the farm’s brews since Lone Oak’s opening, and also attended Good Counsel. “From Poolesville to Burtonsville and Damascus to Silver Spring, Lone Oak Farm and The MoCo Show are celebrating the county we love. Montgomery County grown. Montgomery County made. Montgomery County proud.”
