MDSHA To Begin Pavement Improvement Projects on State Roads in Montgomery County This Week

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a project next week to improve several state roads in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. Crews will remove line stripping and pavement markings and apply a micro-surface coating that protects and extends the life of the asphalt. Weather permitting, work will be complete by early summer.

Work will take place weekdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and overnights, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. During work hours, motorists can expect lane shifts and single lane closures guided by a flagging operation. The State Highway Administration understands roadwork can be an inconvenience and asks motorists to be patient and stay alert in the work zones. The locations in Montgomery County are as follows:

  • MD 97 (Georgia Avenue) between Aspen Hill Road and Prince Philip Drive;
  • MD 911 (First Street) between MD 355 (Rockville Pike) and MD 586 (Veirs Mill Road);
  • MD 355 (Rockville Pike) between Jones Bridge Road and Nicholson Lane;
  • MD 355 (Rockville Pike) between Twinbrook Parkway and MD 911;
  • MD 115 (Muncaster Mill Road) between Snouffers School Road and MD 28 (Norbeck Road);
  • MD 28 between Germantown Road and Quince Orchard Road;
  • MD 112 (Seneca Road) between MD 190 and MD 28;
  • MD 27 (Ridge Road) between Sweepstakes Road and Gue Road;
  • MD 27 (Ridge Road) between MD 80 and Howard County line; and
  • MD 108 (Olney Laytonsville Road) between MD 650 and the Howard County line.
