City of Gaithersburg: Gaithersburg Ranked Most Diverse City In America

Per the City of Gaithersburg: WalletHub has named Gaithersburg the #1 Most Diverse City in America with a total score of 73.09. The City also ranked #1 in the Small City category, which includes communities with populations under 100,000. The study compared more than 500 of the largest cities in the U.S. and ranked them based on socioeconomic, cultural, economic, household, and religious diversity.

A previous WalletHub ranking from February, 2023 had Gaithersburg as the second most diverse small city and the third most culturally diverse city overall based on three key indicators of ethnic diversity, including ethnicity and race, language, and birthplace.

“It seems that no matter what data points are used to measure diversity, Gaithersburg is consistently at or near the top of these lists,” said Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman. “That’s a source of pride for us, and reminds us how remarkable, vibrant, and inclusive we are, and must continue to be, so that everyone feels welcome in our community.”

Three of the top ten most diverse cities in the country are in Maryland, including Gaithersburg, Germantown, and Silver Spring. To learn more about the study and how other communities ranked, read WalletHub’s 2023 Most Diverse Cities in the U.S. report here.
