Montgomery Parks Celebrates Pride Month with Several Special Events

Montgomery Parks is celebrating Pride Month in June with a series of fun events in the parks. The celebration will kick off this weekend with Drag Story Hour and continue with a variety of events. June 2023 Pride in the Parks Schedule:

Pride in the Park: An LGBTQ Comedy Show: Thursday, June 8, 2023 | 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Fairview Road Urban Park | 8900 Fairview Road, Silver Spring, Md., 20910

Production group Improbable Comedy presents an evening of laughs featuring local queer comics. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs or picnic blankets for this event. Food will be available for purchase from vendors. This event is for people ages 17 and up and is not recommended for anyone under 17. Viewer discretion is advised. Free. ASL Interpretation will be provided.

Birding for All: Saturday, June 10, 2023 | 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.

A park naturalist leads adult birders of all levels. The evening begins with an introduction to birding and helpful birding tips. Bring your binoculars, or some will be provided if needed. Not up for a walk? Another naturalist will be stationed at the bird feeders to identify birds on the Nature Center’s deck. The program celebrates Pride Month by providing a safe and welcoming environment for all, especially members of the LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and accessibility communities. Free. Ages 18 and older. Pride Awareness Hike: Sunday, June 18, 2023 |10:00 a.m.— 12:00 p.m. Fairland Recreational Park | 3928 Greencastle Road, Fairland, Md., 20866 A Pride Hike for all ages is designed for members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community who want to get outside and explore the great outdoors.
