Update: Montgomery County Police reports that a seventh person (pedestrian) was also transported due to injuries.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a multi-vehicle collision at Georgia Ave at Kayson St in Wheaton on Thursday, August 17, around 7pm. According to MCFRS Assistant Chief David Pazos, the collision involved one person pinned and one vehicle on fire. Six people were evaluated and transported to area hospitals, some with traumatic injuries.
Pazos tweeted, “In addition to 6 transport units and 2 dozen fire dept personnel, a MCFRS hazmat unit responded to the scene for vehicles with fuel spills. Traffic is being diverted from the scene, and units are starting to release the scene to MCPD.”
Per Montgomery County Police: “Georgia Avenue at Kayson Street is closed as the result of a traffic collision. Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route. Expect delays.”
