Mackie’s Barbecue Company at 5500 Olney Laytonsville Rd (previously Umberto’s Italian Restaurant) in Olney will hold its soft opening on Monday, September 25. The restaurant will be open with a limited menu for dine in, takeout, and delivery via DoorDash, Ubereats, and GrubHub. According to Mackie’s, the restaurant features a beer cave, similar to the ones found at Shoppers grocery stores, and a wall of retail wine that features local vendors. The restaurant will also eventually have a full bar.
Menu items include BBQ nachos, crab dip, pulled pork, brisket, pulled chicken, ribs, mac & cheese, and Texas beans.
Mackie’s currently has locations at 8547 Ziggy Lane in Gaithersburg and 325 West 7th Street in Frederick, MD.
