Germantown Family Celebrates the Holidays and Tradition With Extravagant Light Display Open to the Public

The Salgado family of Germantown has had a Christmas light display as far back as they can remember. The incredible display includes giant lighted arches, over 25 inflatables characters, a 20ft snowman, thousands of lights, an animatronic Santa, and more.

They call it the Salgado Family Christmas Display, and it’s put together each year by siblings Pahan and Supuli, and the help of their family/friends. “We do this to Give to all people the Joy and Happiness and Love of the Christmas Season and represents the true Meaning of Christmas Joy, Happiness and Love, and the birth of Jesus Christ.” Pahan told us.

On the Grand Opening night, the family will have a countdown to turn their lights on for the 2023 Christmas season on November 18 at 6:45pm. It will be located at 11609 Lucrece Ter. in Germantown. Pahan says “We welcome everyone to come it’s all FREE, but we will be collecting donations. We will have snow and smoke machines, music, food, candy, and drinks available for free to everyone. We will also have a Christmas walk-through trail in the backyard with Christmas animatronics, Jack Frost, Santa, Reindeer Mickey Mouse, Yoda, Grinch, La Befana the Christmas witch and other Christmas characters.”

The display also includes a hand-built nativity stable and flying angels created by the family’s uncle Indika and a hand-built 10 ft Star of Bethlehem, built by the family’s two other uncles, Lahiru and Dinesh. Two angels on each side of the display honor Pahan and Supuli’s late grandmothers Sulia and Lolita who passed away in 2020.

The lights will be on every day from 6:45 pm to dawn from November 18 to January 7th. The walk-through Christmas Trail will be open on the following nights from 6:45 to 10 pm:
