New and Coming Soon To Rockville’s ‘Pike Center’

Pike Center, located on Rockville Pike and just south of Twinbrook Parkway, has been a popular shopping center in Rockville for decades. It’s home to longtime tenant and late 90s/early 2000s juggernaut TGI Friday’s and was previously home to popular restaurants Bagel City and CiCi’s Pizza and the now-shuttered home accessories chain Pier 1 imports. After a little time staying relatively dormant, there has been some action at the Kimco development. Below you’ll see a list of what’s new and what’s coming soon to the shopping center.

  • Golfdom “The Golfer’s Store” leased the space that was formerly home to Pier 1 Imports at 12137 Rockville Pike in the Pike Center. The store opened its doors early his year, om May 5th. Golfdom is open on Monday through Friday from 10am until 7pm, Saturday from 9am until 6pm, and Sunday from 10am until 6pm. Golfdom has been around for over 40 years, moving into its Tyson’s location, at 8302 Watson St in McLean, VA, in 1997. In 2022, Golfdom agreed to be acquired by Worldwide Golf Shops, a Bethesda-based parent company of several well-known golf retailers throughout the country.

  • Back in August, we reported that Jared The Galleria Of Jewelry closed its Rockville Pike (12101 Rockville Pike) location with a sign on the door stating that the store is closed for remodeling. A peek at the building, and inside, showed major renovations underway, with the sign redirecting customers to the Jared’s Frederick location at 5617 Spectrum Dr. We have since learned that the location will be returning as a different jewelry store- Diamonds Direct. “Diamonds Direct is thrilled to expand our footprint in the DC Metro Region, with the newest opening into Rockville. Adjacent to Washington, DC, Rockville is a vibrant city that we couldn’t be more thrilled to call our new home. Our diamond experts, equipped with an unmatched selection of diamond and gemstone jewelry, are here to deliver a one-of-a-kind luxury experience for any budget.”

  • Luna Hall will be taking over the location that was previously home to CiCi’s Pizza. The food hall tells us that in addition to Rockville, they have new branches on the horizon in Tyson’s and Ellicott City, but that Rockville’s Luna Hall will be their “premier location.” The Rockville location will offer Hot Pot and Korean BBQ at Top Pot KBBQ, and food court with ten offerings, including Dumpling District, Kung Fu Tea, TKK Fried Chicken, Pollo Aria, Buena Onda by renowned Iron Chef Jose Garces, Mala Pot, Ramen, Kebob, a dessert spot, and a bakery. An opening date is not yet available.
  • Buena Onda Baja Taqueria is coming to 12107 Rockville Pike, the former home of Avail Vape/Kure CBD & Vape, in the Pike Center shopping center (home to TGI Friday’s), according to Kimco. The restaurant is a José Garces creation. Garces is an Ecuadorian-American chef, born in Chicago to Ecuadorian parents. He won in the second season of The Next Iron Chef and also defeated Bobby Flay in Iron Chef America. According to the restaurant website, Buena Onda, celebrity chef Jose Garces’ Baja-inspired taqueria is more than a fast casual taqueria, it’s a mindset. In Spanish, Buena Onda means “Good Vibes”. In a world full of fast casual options, Buena Onda offers a unique, casual Baja taqueria  experience for guests with an appealing menu, friendly service, and laid-back beach bum decor.
