According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, “Today in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, before the Honorable Debra Dwyer, a jury convicted defendant, Andre R. Moore, 24, of Silver Spring, on charges of first-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a crime of violence for the shooting death of 40-year-old Michael Sutton. Moore faces the potential of life in prison when he is sentenced on February 22nd, 2024.
This stems from an incident on January 18th, 2021, at a home along Balmoral Drive in Silver Spring. Both the defendant and victim were tenants in the house. They became involved in a verbal altercation and Moore shot Sutton in the back of the neck, killing him. The incident was caught on video by surveillance cameras inside of the home.
Assistant State’s Attorneys Kimberly Cissel and James Dietrich are prosecuting this case.”
“This is yet another case of senseless, deadly violence involving a ‘ghost gun’ or privately manufactured firearm. The weapon was illegally purchased by the defendant about two weeks prior to the murder. We send our deepest condolences to the family of Michael Sutton and thank the Montgomery County Police detectives and Assistant State’s Attorneys Kimberly Cissel and James Dietrich for seeing that justice is served in this matter,” said State’s Attorney John McCarthy.
